After failing my A levels, I first worked in retail for a couple of years and then as a dental nurse for over 12 years. Then, after deciding that I was under-achieving professionally, I enrolled at university as a mature student. I went on to achieve a first-class BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry and an MSc in Analytical Bioscience from the University of Huddersfield. I then followed this up with a PhD in Developmental Biomedicine from the University of Manchester. Prior to becoming a freelance editor, I worked as a medical writer for a Market Access Consultancy company.<\/p>\n
I specialise in proofreading science-related texts, and my specialist subject areas are the biological, health and medical sciences. I also have considerable experience editing the physical sciences, particularly physics and materials science. I am also comfortable working on the majority of subjects.<\/p>\n
Away from my desk, I like to read horror and thriller novels for relaxation, and I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen. I am a member of the National Trust, and most weekends can be found wandering around various historical sites. I also love travelling, particularly to European cities.<\/p>\n
